Town-land Benefactors Scheme

Memorial Town-land Benefactor
€250.00

Becoming a County Sligo Great War Memorial Town-Land benefactor is a truly unique way for individuals, businesses and community groups to directly and proudly support the development of the County Sligo Great War memorial.

On our War Records page we list 51 Sligo county town-lands that lost volunteers during the war. A further 7 districts are specified inside the borough boundary. There is a final category for volunteers from Sligo whose town-land of origin remains undetermined .

We now invite interested individuals, community groups and businesses throughout Sligo County to help us realise the development of the memorial garden by becoming Town-Land Benefactors.

Should you decide to become a memorial benefactor through this measure you can simply specify the town-land / district of your choice in the “Town-Land Requested” section as you register your support.

Your generous contribution will be clearly acknowledged on our Benefactors Page under the Town-Land Benefactors Section.

Become A Memorial Business Benefactor

Through the Memorial Name Benefactor option you have the opportunity to support the inscription of one of the 610 names which will go on the memorial stone slabs. This will be our main fundraising platform. We hope that the opportunity to personally support the inscription of a name on the wall will resonate across the community and be seen as a metaphor for bringing all those lost to Sligo in the Great War back home to a place of community commemoration.

You can also become a Memorial Town-Land Benefactor. This measure allows businesses and community groups and individuals to become the benefactor of one of the 59 geographic areas that will be designated on the memorial monument.

The Memorial Corporate/Business Benefactor option allows businesses in County Sligo and around the world to make meaningful one-off contribution to the memorial capital development costs.

It is important to note that prominent and fitting acknowledgement of all our memorial Garden benefactors will take place on this website, in publications and at public events concerned with the campaign.

However in order to preserve the dignity, integrity and serenity of the memorial Garden such acknowledgements cannot feature at the actual memorial site.
